TMU GPA calculator for Ontario applicants.

TMU reports a cumulative grade point average on a 4.33 scale, with a term GPA beside it. Not 4.3 like Queen's and not 4.0 like U of T. This page runs on TMU's thirteen-band table, so a syllabus percentage lands on the exact letter and grade points Senate Policy 170(a) assigns.

How TMU calculates GPA

The rules, straight from Toronto Metropolitan University · Senate Policy 170(a), revised 4 November 2025.

  • TMU's undergraduate scale: A+ = 4.33 (90-100), A = 4.00 (85-89), A- = 3.67 (80-84), B+ = 3.33 (77-79), B = 3.00 (73-76), B- = 2.67 (70-72), C+ = 2.33 (67-69), C = 2.00 (63-66), C- = 1.67 (60-62), D+ = 1.33 (57-59), D = 1.00 (53-56), D- = 0.67 (50-52), F = 0.00 (0-49).
  • The CGPA is the sum of course weight times grade points, divided by the sum of course weights, rounded to two decimals. A term GPA is the same over one term.
  • Course weights are 1.00 for a single-term course and 2.00 for a multi-term course. Trent, Western and Guelph use 0.5 and 1.0 for the same two shapes, so a TMU weight is not a credit in the sense other schools mean.
  • Repeats: the grade from the most recent attempt is substituted for the earlier grade in the GPA, in Policy 170(a)'s words, "even if the newer grade is lower".
  • Failed courses count at 0.00, including FNA (failure, non-assessment) and F-S (failed with a supplemental opportunity). AEG, AUD, CHG, CRT, DEF, INC, INP, FLD, PSD, CRD, CRV and NCR are outside the GPA.
  • Academic standing: Clear at a CGPA of 1.67 or above, Probationary from 1.00 to 1.66, Required to Withdraw below 1.00. Credit toward graduation needs at least a D-; programs may require more in specific courses.
  • Graduating With Distinction needs a CGPA of 3.50 or higher. The Dean's List is set by each faculty: Arts needs four courses passed in the term with a TGPA of 3.67 and a clear record, and other faculties publish their own thresholds.
  • For OMSAS, OLSAS and ORPAS, TMU is on OUAC Scale 7, the alpha column, so the OUAC converts the letter. TMU's percentage bands happen to match the percentage column, so both routes agree today; this page converts the letter, as the OUAC does, so it stays right if a band ever moves.

This is an estimate. TMU's Registrar produces your official TGPA and CGPA on your transcript · this is your own working number.

The table, weights, repeat rule and standing thresholds come from Senate Policy 170(a) and the 2026-2027 Calendar, linked below. Dean's List thresholds are faculty policy and only the Faculty of Arts figure was read from its own page. The Lincoln Alexander School of Law and the MD program have their own policies, 170(c) and 170(d), and this scale does not apply to them.
