Your grades live in your account

The tracker needs a free account. Everything you enter in it · courses, assignments, scores, past terms · is kept in that account on our servers, and a copy stays in your browser so the tracker opens instantly. Nobody but you can read it, we never sell it or advertise against it, and deleting your account removes it all. The sample course on the home page and the teacher gradebook need no account and keep nothing on our servers.

With an account, your tracker is stored on our servers

Creating an account turns on cloud backup, and that is a real copy of your tracker · courses, assignments, scores, due dates · held in our database so it survives a cleared browser and reaches your other devices. It is stored so that our systems can read it, and two of them do:

  • The daily reminder job reads your due dates to decide what to email you about.
  • If you subscribe to the calendar feed, the feed URL serves your deadlines to whatever calendar app asks for it. Anyone holding that URL can read them, which is why you can reset it.

We do not sell it, and we do not use it to train anything. Deleting your account from the account page removes it, including the backup, the calendar feed, and any subscription record.

What leaves your device

Two features call our servers, and both forward what you send to Anthropic, our AI provider, then return the answer to your browser: syllabus parsing (the file or text you drop) and the orb assistant (your message plus a short summary of the course you're viewing). We store none of it. Anthropic processes the data in the United States, deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, and does not use them to train models, per its published retention policy. If you'd rather send nothing, skip these features · everything else works with data entered by hand.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights: cookieless, aggregate page metrics that tell us which pages load and how fast. No advertising trackers, no sale of data, no cross-site profiling. Standard server logs (IP address, timestamp) are kept briefly by our hosting provider for rate limiting and abuse prevention. We also read our own database in aggregate to run the service: how many accounts were made, how many trackers changed this week, how many syllabi were read. Those reports are counts and shares over everyone; they name no person and show no grade.

Students under 18

Gradus is built for high school and university students, so many people using it are minors. An account, which is what the tracker needs, can be created by a student who is 13 or older. A younger student may use Gradus through an account a parent or guardian creates and holds for them. Whatever the age, if a parent or guardian would rather an account did not exist, an email to the address below removes it and everything it holds. We collect nothing beyond what the tracker needs, and we never sell or advertise against a student's data at any age.
