McMaster University students · Hamilton
McMaster GPA calculator for Ontario applicants.
McMaster uses a 12-point undergraduate scale (A+ = 12, F = 0). This page shows the exact percentage cutoffs the Registrar publishes, so a percentage syllabus mark rolls straight into a McMaster letter and grade point.

How McMaster calculates GPA
The rules, straight from McMaster University Registrar · Grades.
- McMaster undergraduate scale: A+ = 12 (90-100%), A = 11 (85-89%), A- = 10 (80-84%), B+ = 9 (77-79%), B = 8 (73-76%), B- = 7 (70-72%), C+ = 6 (67-69%), C = 5 (63-66%), C- = 4 (60-62%), D+ = 3 (57-59%), D = 2 (53-56%), D- = 1 (50-52%), F = 0 (below 50%). Percentage equivalents are standardized university-wide under Senate policy.
- Term Grade Point Average is calculated by dividing the total grade points for the term by the term's GPA units (credit weight of graded courses).
- The 12-point letter grade scale and its percentage equivalents apply consistently across all undergraduate programs; program-level academic standing thresholds vary and are set by each Faculty.
- McMaster's 12-point scale matches Trent's scale exactly · if you're used to Trent's tracker output, McMaster's grade point numbers will look identical.
- For OMSAS, OLSAS, or ORPAS applications, McMaster percentages are re-converted using the OUAC scale · that is a separate 4.0 calculation. Use the OMSAS / OLSAS / ORPAS pages for application-cycle estimates.
This is an estimate. The McMaster Registrar produces your official term GPA and cumulative GPA on your transcript · this is your own working number.
The percentage cutoffs and grade points here come straight from the McMaster Registrar page linked below. Faculty-specific rules (Faculty of Health Sciences, Engineering standing thresholds, repeat and supplemental policies) may change how a course counts toward your program GPA · this tool does not model those exclusions. Check your program handbook for edge cases.
